Regrets, the Sonics have had a few. Paying Jim McIlvaine instead of Shawn Kemp. Trading Scottie Pippen for Olden Polynice. Not to mention this whole “my NBA team is about to be relocated to Oklahoma City because David Stern turned out to be a sinister asshole and there’s nothing I can do about it because I didn’t happen to have $350 million handy when Howard Schultz decided to stab Seattle in the back” thing.
In light of that list of managerial abortions, today’s gripe is refreshingly minor. The Houston Rockets are on a 17 game winning streak that has perservered in spite of a season ending injury to Yao Ming. Effectively filling some of those post minutes is Seattle’s selection with the first pick of the second round in the 2007 NBA Draft, Carl Landry. And dude, the thing is, I want him back.
