CBI: Wrap City
Constable Echelon keeps you up to date in the Grandest E’er.
-Virginia, Old Dominion, Ohio, and Houston advance. Great, my bracket is in shambles already.
-Salt Lake Tribune reporter deploys groundbreaking “bloggers write from their moms’ basements” stereotype re: yours truly…..on his blog.
Houston 80 – Nevada 79
Marcelus Kemp and Lyndale Burleson will not be returning to Hec Ed despite scoring 24 points to lead a frantic Nevada comeback that fell just short. Rob McKiver led the Cougars with 22 points. F Dion Dowell chipped in 19 and 14 for the victors. Nevada was undone when soph 7 footer JaVale McGee fouled out. His name sounds made up. Lyndale Burleson played 22 minutes and did not attempt a shot.
Ohio 80 – Brown 74
Ohio survives Brown’s barrage of threes. Brown senior Damon Huffman went out shooting, hitting NINE three bombs. Ohio forwards Jerome Tillman and Leon Williams dominated the paint with 21 and 20 points respectively. Tillman added 11 boards.
Virginia 66 – Richmond 64
Alas, my upset special falls two points short. Sean Singletary hit the go ahead jumper with 1:16 left. Virginia made it stand up. Dan Geriot paced Richmond with 22.
Old Dominion 68 – Rider 65
Rider strong, just not strong enough. Frank Hassell led a balanced Old Dominion offense with 14 points. Rider’s Thompson brothers combined for 39 points to close a nine point halftime defecit to three, only to fall just short. Old Dominion will face Virginia in the quarters.
Add Basement
I don’t have too much to say about this, other than that I find it hilarious. Salt Lake Tribune writer Michael Lewis (not that one!) caught our CBI previews and adopted some of that vaunted Utah snark. I applaud him for taking an angle. Too many of these newspaper blogs read like the joyless, conceived in a meeting, perfunctory exercises that they….are. And frankly, more people’s salaried jobs should involve reading what I write. Thanks for reading!

You are my hero.
mmmmmm…. ironing
In Salt Lake you aren’t even allowed in your mom’s basement unless you are a member of the Church.
Sports reporters can’t understand why you wouldn’t do something if you’re not paid for it.
Though the Dawgs are vanquished, Irish code-Duello mandates that CBI coverage on this blog be followed through until this tourney’s ignominious conclusion. Honor demands it.
