Range Life: Masters Challenge, a competition unlike any others
Fig Jam
Simply picking Tiger Woods to win the Masters is to easy. He’s the obvious frontrunner. The more enticing challenge is to pit yourself against Mr. Woods to see if it is as futile an enterprise for you as it is the other golfers on the PGA Tour.

The game is simple. Pick 5 players competing in the Masters tournament who you believe will be able to beat Tiger…. when 4 of their 5 scores for the tournament are combined. If you choose wisely, your golfers will all be under par, and when you combine the scores, they will be more strokes under par than Woods. Odds are you will have at least one clunker pick, which you can eliminate from calculation (call it your mulligan), but if you have 2 poor choices you are done.
Here are my 5:
1. Phil - He’s won 2 Masters in the past 4 years and always seems to be in the hunt in the majors. He’s the closest thing to a ‘rival’ that Tiger has.

2. Justin Leonard – His career reclamation continues this season. He ranks near the top in driving accuracy and putting, two categories that are amazingly important at Augusta.

3. Adam Scott – has been on a tear recently. Tons of confidence and a desire to prove he belongs amongst the elite bode well for Scott in the majors this year.

4. Bubba Watson – Weir in 2003, Mickelson in 04 and 06… There is something about Augusta that suits Lefties. Plus the golf course sets up well for someone who can bomb it out there like Watson can.

5. Jeff Ogilvy – A winner 2 weeks before the Masters and a prior winner of the US Open, Ogilvy has both major championship experience and momentum on his side as he heads into Amen Corner.

So, we’ll see if I know wtf I am talking about. I invite everyone to fill in their ‘bracket’ as well and I will tally them all up at the end. The winner will be whoever can beat Tiger. If more than one person beats Tiger, then it will be whoever is the most under par with their 4 golfers. If we end up with a situation like last year, where the winning score is over par, then just add up your 4 best players and see if they are less over par than Tiger. The odds of that are minimal.
To the winner I offer a prize of a box of Titleist PRO V1 golf balls. Not alot, but I’m not a rich man. Ok… let’s see if this works.
