I suppose in the overall scheme of things (see generally: Payton, Durant) the Sonics probably had a fall in the draft coming one of these years.  But picking fourth when there are two prized prospects out there sucks.  And after the drama of last season, a spoonfull of sugar wouldn’t have hurt. 

Barring Rose or Beasley ending up on To Catch a Predator, the top two picks in the draft are a given.  From the three spot on, it’s a bit of a crapshoot at the moment.  The names we’ll hear tossed around include Danilo Gallinari (this year’s Euro w/ Upside©), O.J. Mayo, Brook Lopez, Jerryd Bayless, Eric Gordon.  Bayless makes the most sense for us (remember, our point guard play is miserable), Mayo has the most potential (and is most likely to be the next Isaiah Rider), and if the Sonics pick Lopez, I will personally call the moving vans to help them get the fuck out of town.   I kind of like the idea being floated by the Seattle Times blog, where they’re suggesting the Supes trade down to a team who can’t resist the temptation of Mayo (too bad Isaiah isn’t running the Knicks anymore… maybe the Clip Show?).   With a lower pick, the Sonics could pick up Durant’s old teammate at Texas, point guard D.J. Augustin.  Durant’s teammate, Texas ties, sure sounds like a great move for a team moving to Oklahoma, eh? 

Speaking of, it sure was a feel good story when they showed the parties being thrown by the other teams in the running for the #1 pick.  Miami had a bunch of people partying in their arena, hell even the Knicks fans were upbeat.  How about the team with the second most chances?  Oh yeah, they were probably busy with one of the many lawsuits.   

Seriously though, pick Lopez and I will be ordering up dogdoo.com to the Oklahoma City.  Wait.  Now that I think about it, I might just do it anyway.
