Fig Jam

“It came out of the blue; there was no writing on the wall.” These are the words of Jeremy Reed concerning his recent call-up by the Seattle Mariners. The Seattle PI has an entire article today about how Reed was surprised to be called up by the club, from AAA Tacoma.

Of Course Reed was surprised to be called up. He is tearing the cover off the ball. Guy’s batting .349 right now. Why would a team that features a lineup of guys with Batting Averages of .222, .215, .203, .171, .182, and .200 want anything to do with .349? Hell, it may even be dangerous to try and hit a little bit for the Mariners. Greg Norton was batting over .400 in his brief stint with the team and that promptly earned him a one way ticket out of town (directly onto another major league roster, btw. Turns out other teams are cool with having productive hitters on their squad).
