Sonics’ Kevin Calabro would rather call soccer than move to Oklahoma

Constable Echelon

Long time voice of the Seattle Supersonics Kevin Calabro will be staying in the Pacific Northwest to lend his signature erratic, insouciant* baritone to the expansion Seattle Sounders FC of the MLS.

National NBA fans would recall Calabro from his work for TNT in recent playoffs. Others may recognize him as the voice of early NBA and NFL video games on the X-Box.

Kevin Calabro had an option to stay with the Sonics Thunder for the upcoming NBA season, but declined it when the abrupt move to Oklahoma City became apparent.

So Kevin Calabro becomes the first NBA talent to officially turn down Oklahoma City. And for soccer no less. Get ready for MLS littered with 70s soul references! I couldn’t be more thrilled.

*Turns out scatological did not mean what I thought it meant.
