Beloved H&F commenters,
Please post your polls below and I’ll combine them with those of our crack staff to see how we feel.

1. Arizona State (Maybe UW should try to lure Erickson, an Everett guy, back up to Seattle. This pick hinges on ASU getting by Georgia, which would be a huge boost of confidence)
2. USC (Reloaded once again, and I would have put them first, but I just don’t like them)
3. Oregon (as much as it pains me to put them here)
4. Arizona (soft conference schedule, with only tough road game at Oregon)
5. Oregon State (consistently have been performing better than expected in recent years, although the loss of Bernard could be rough)
6. Cal (Honestly, who would have voted them #1?)
7. UCLA (No O-line, QB issues, Neuheisel)
8. Washington (I would like to put them higher, as I think they’ll do better in conference, but I wouldn’t be surprised with an 0-3 start burying them)
9. Stanford (Too tough a schedule to do well, although I think they could surprise)
10. WSU (they coog’d it)

1) Arizona State - Dennis Erickson is the Gaius Marius of college football; he keeps returning in triumph.
2) UCLA - Neuheisel wouldn’t have taken the job unless he felt that it was possible to connive his way to the top of the division.
3) Washington - The tide turns Aug. 30 in Eugene; Ty mounts a valliant (and successful) last stand in the face of overwhelming odds a la Lt. John Chard at Rorke’s Drift.
4) Cal - Tedford able to devliver consistency, if not conference titles.
5) USC - Infighting spurred by competetion amongst all-americans for playing-time finally combines w/LA’s volatile culture of material decadence - resulting in a chaotic, Miami-esque, self-combustion.
6) Oregon State - Bowl appearance mandated salsa sponsorship contract, OSU delivers the goods.
7) Arizona - Always fails to meet preseason expectations, could fair worse.
8) Oregon - Unable to make QB transition, team degenerates into a colorful multi-uniformed circus act.
9) WSU - will have to restock next season by signing more JC transfers w/criminal backgrounds.
10) Stanford - Struggles, but vows their women’s swim team will set the record straight.
