Rick Neuheisel cannot stand to be gainfully employed

From the PAC 10 coaches conference call today, UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel when asked if the University of Washington job was still ‘high profile,’

“From my persepctive it (is),” Neuheisel said. “I always thought the city of Seattle and the University of Washington were marquee places. … In our industry, that is exactly how it is regarded.”

Great answer coach.  A few points on that however.  First of all, I’d argue that the appropriate response to that question is no response, since current UW coach (admittedly soon to be ex UW coach) Ty Willingham was sitting there listening to the call.  Seems a little callous to be conjecturing about how the Washington post is going to be regarded within the profession when the lame duck coach is within in earshot.

Second – I would say that all questions to Rick about other school’s coaching positions are trick questions and should not be answered out of general principle.   Here’s a guy who’s main failing at UW was that he was never happy enough.  Always had his eye out for the next big thing.  Now, conceivably UCLA is his dream job since he went to school there, but just for kicks, lets refrain from talking about how sweet other jobs are.

Nice of him to say, though.

I hate Rick Neuheisel, but in this case, I think his comment is meaningless.
