Kitna aggravates pre-existing condition of “being terrible,” placed on IR

This blog is totally lacking in Detroit Lions coverage. Can you imagine how much fun it would be to have been writing about that team over the past few seasons? The Millen material is endless.

Anyhow – Jon Kitna, of Central Washington University fame – has been placed on the IR by the Lions after he reportedly aggravated a back injury. Kitna, however, wants to just call a spade a spade and be done with it, proclaiming, “They decided they wanted to go in a different direction,” Kitna said in an interview Wednesday on WJR-AM. “And I guess the thing for me is, that’s fine. Let’s just say that.”

Kitna wasn’t done there, stating, “That’s the one thing that really bothers me the most,” Kitna said in the interview. “You want to make a change? Hey, I can see that. I understand the position. I understand how things go in this league. But let’s make a change and let’s say what it is.”

I guess after Matt Millen was fired it was really only a matter of time until the Lions started addressing certain personnel on the roster. While Kitna certainly isn’t the most blaring problem the Lions have, I highly doubt that he is the long term answer for the club. That guy Dan Orlovsky – once he learns the parameters of the endzone – is clearly the answer (read: not clearly).

Kitna should return to Seattle and backup Matt Hasselback.

The thing is – why didn’t we trade for Kitna? Who would you rather have starting for the Hawk Show – wigger frye or Kitna?
