Cole, I can assure that Vandy does not operate their program “just like every other school in the SEC” and that the work Coach Johnson has done there is a minor miracle. Do a little research into how the Vandy “athletic department” operates and you’ll see that he’s most definitely operating with some major hurdles. The hurdles are not impossible though, and while Vanderbilt will never have the depth that some schools in the SEC can amass, I think they can put together a solid first string with a little depth.

That’s their best case scenario: to be like a Northwestern or Stanford. If they are past the days of the Floridas and LSUs being able to bring in all the scrubs by halftime, and can make it to a bowl every few seasons, that’s light years ahead of where this program was a decade ago.

I hope Vandy pays what they need to in order to keep Bobby Johnson there (I expect Clemson to give him a nice offer).

Ha! This is pretty funny. Vandy thinks they have arrived, because they because bowl eligible for the first time in 26 years. They think they will attract new talent to come in and play. Here’s the thing… It doesn’t matter who you attract to come play for you if the guy can’t make a 25 or so on his ACT and graduate with above a 3.0 GPA. Which is probably lower than the standards to be admitted to Vanderbilt. I think its absolutely ridiculous that Vandy is allow to let retards come play football for them just like every other school in the SEC, and then have the gawl to charge ~$50,000 per year tuition because you are an “academic” university. Its a freaking joke.
