Tyrone Willingham: STILL The Highest Paid Coach At Notre Dame

Sager Bombs

Sounds like a bad Onion headline, right?  Except it’s true.  Our favorite United Football League coach is still on the books there, three years after getting canned from ND.

The school paid Willingham $650,000 from July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2008, the third straight year they’ve paid him that sum since his firing.

Big Chazz Weiss?  Only pulling in  $640,851 from the domers.  Although I have a funny feeling he might be able to pull in a little more than Mr. Willingham on endorsements in the region.  Don’t worry about Ty though…  factor in the $1m bailout the dude got for completely fucking up UW football, and no one is getting paid more for doing less than our boy.   America!

Nice work if you can get it.

I’m anxiously awaiting the PR blitz that’s going to happen when he re-emerges somewhere. They’ve got some interesting hurdles to overcome. The no-wins thing. The blaming the University/players/fans for the bad play. The ‘black coaches only get hired to coach downtrodden programs….’ (Like Notre Dame, Washington, and Miami). I expect all these to swept under the carpet with a media campaign showing Ty smiling and joking around with his new team. Should be delightful.

    Ty smiling and joking transcript:

Reporter: “You seem to be enjoying yourself out there.”

Ty: “Ty Willingham is not averse to having a good time.”

Reporter: “So you’d agree that you’ve loosened up a little bit?”

    Ty: “Who?”

Reporter: “Uh…you. You have loosened up?”

    Ty: (arms folded, no comment)

    Reporter: (uncomfortable)

The only thing Ty is going to come out of is the closet. The only thing I learned over the last few years is that he has some things stuck way up his ass. It appears to be very painful.

He has no comment about it though.
