In order for the US team to advance to the semifinals of the Confederation Cup, they needed to beat Egypt by three goals. The US also needed Italy to lose by three goals to Brazil. Both those things somehow happened and the US advanced. But then also in the midst of those improbable games, this happened:

That kid really wanted some war paint. I am still in shock that the US managed to squeak their way into the semis. After those first two games I was sure that we had returned to the laughing stock of the soccer world. Granted we had probably the hardest draw in the cup, but we looked lost, uninspired and totally outgunned in both those games. Good think Egypt sucked balls.
