Dear Pete Carroll, STFU

Pete, let me remind you that the team you now coach is the Seattle Seahawks, not the USC Trojans.  The Seahawks are in the NFL, not the Pac 10.  The Seahawks are located in Seattle, not Los Angeles.  Oh – and the Seahawks aren’t very good and need every second of your attention in order to avoid another losing season.

So why, I must ask, do I continue to see you on Television, and read quotes you give during interviews, where you are incessantly ranting and raving about the injustice done to USC by the NCAA?  How does that relate to your job as Seahawks head coach? I’m going to be honest here and just let you know that I don’t think it does.  As a Seahawk fan,  I don’t care about USC’s sanctions.  If you think that USC was railroaded by the NCAA that’s fine – just keep it to yourself.   Your job and your focus at this point has nothing to do with that.

Additionally, I have to tell you that it makes you look like a child to go on television and whine about how everyone was out to get your Trojans and how the NCAA had an agenda in bringing you down.  This, coming from the guy who suddenly and mysteriously left the top 10 program where he was making millions and living in LA, to take the head coaching position of a NFL franchise in the Pacific Northwest that could be one of the leagues’ 5 worst teams.  Do you think that the sporting fans of the world are so dumb that they don’t realize that you saw this NCAA sledgehammer coming and chose to abandon ship rather than take it like a man?  No – we all get that.  You took the easy way out and washed your hands of the NCAA by jumping to the NFL.  Good for you.  Now focus on the NFL.

You know Pete, when I think back on your tenure at USC it seems to me that you never really cared about the NCAA or fortune of the rest of the college football world.  You and your boys were out there having a good time, beating the crap out of people and then going out in LA to mix it up with the stars.  Nothing else mattered.  Your tenure at USC was like one long episode of Entourage.  I don’t seem to remember you being the compassionate type Pete when you were taking it UW and WSU and everyone else in the Pac 10, running up the score whenever you could so that your 4th string 5 star recruit running backs could get some touches.  So why do you now think that the UW and WSU fanbase (ie – the Seattle Seahawk fanbase) gives a damn about the sanctions that USC got hit with for CHEATING, while you were the head coach? Here’s a hint: we don’t care.  Not at all.  So as the new Seattle Seahawk coach, you shouldn’t care either.  In fact, you’re being paid an absurd amount of money not to care, so act accordingly.
